Lessons, I like to call it loading the clients tool box up with casts that catch fish. I teach a wide variety of clients in single and double handed fly casting techniques. Clients vary from total beginners, intermediate/advanced casters, clients training to become qualified instructors, group workshops and many clients that come along specifically to prepare for destination fishing trips so that they are well prepared to get the maximum out of their trip.
These trips are expensive so being well prepared gives you the best chance possible to capitalise on the opportunity to catch fish. When I get a total beginner coming for lessons we start with the basics. Roll cast and pick up and lay down. Then we start to add shooting line, dealing with difficult wind conditions and double hauling, quickly moving into the world of Spey casting. As the client improves we are able to add casts with more difficulty.
The more casts my clients have in their tool box the more fish they will cover which in turn will dramatically improve their catch rates. You can have the best equipment and fly box in the world but if you can’t put the fly in the zone you are limiting your catch return. When teaching intermediate and advanced casters I will carry you through the world of Spey casting, covering all the traditional Spey casts as well as modern Spey casting techniques. I will also show you my own range of Spey casts which I have developed. These courses will enable your casting to reach another level and give you a deeper understanding of Spey casting enabling you to fish with confidence in the worst conditions possible but still having total control of the fly line.
