James Bull watched one of my demonstrations at the English Game Fair this year and afterwards asked if he could book in for some casting tuition.

We managed to fit in a couple of lessons before his trip, and the improvement in his casting was fantastic.

Now James is out on the West Rangá in Iceland, putting all that hard work into practice and catching stunning salmon like this one.

If you’re planning a destination fishing trip, one of the best pieces of advice I can give is to get some tuition from a professional casting instructor before you go.

A little preparation beforehand can make a huge difference when you finally step onto the river and help you make the most of every opportunity.

Prepare. Practise. Then reap the rewards. 🎣
