Flats fishing is exhilarating. Wading, watching for movement, then trying to get a fly in front of a target in tricky conditions often with only four seconds to make the shot.

Add the wind and the challenge of handling your line when you’re sometimes chest deep in water, and there’s plenty to contend with!

But when the plan comes together, it’s some of the best fly fishing you will ever experience.

I have an exciting opportunity to run hosted fly fishing trips to the Maldives. Whether you’re an experienced saltwater bum or looking to take your first steps into the world of saltwater fly fishing, watch this space! 🎣🌴

Pike fishing on the canals can be very productive. 🎣

When the rivers are blown out and it limits my grayling fishing, I often switch things up and chase pike to get my fishing fix. It’s a great way to stay on the water when conditions elsewhere aren’t playing ball.

I’ll shoot another short video of my pike setup later in the year when I switch back to targeting them, which will hopefully help a few people. For now, it’s time to leave these guys alone while they spawn. 🐟🎣

A tough but rewarding session on the pike today. They can be tricky when they’re hugging the bottom, but it’s always satisfying when you manage to connect.

I used a super short leader to keep the fly near the bottom, which seemed to do the trick. Are fish line-shy?

A massive thank you to The Game Fair for the invite to demonstrate at Ragley Hall last weekend. What a fabulous event…..In between demonstrating and working on the Mackenzie stand I took a walk around to see what was on offer and also catch up with friends I haven’t seen in a while…… Hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed taking a look around…….A special mention to the doughnut van in the fishing village who kept me fueled throughout the weekend 😂👏👏👏
