River Ure Hawes
10/06/2015London to Brighton bike ride
23/06/2015Fishing at Chatsworth House today with one of my clients Ben Hurst and resident Chatsworth river guide and fellow Game Angling Instructor Pete Lax. This is a beautiful place to fly fish and the river did not disappoint, we all caught well into double figure fish. Also hooking into and losing a similar amount. The best being a 4 and ½ pound rainbow trout. I had a 4lb plus rainbow trout on a 10ft 3 weight rod which really made the rod bend I can tell you. There were not a lot of fish rising even though there was the odd Mayfly coming off. I used upstream nymph tactics most of the day with a gold bead hares ear nymph taking all my fish. We had a great day Pete and I will be back soon to fish this beautiful river. P.S I usually swear by the pheasant tail nymph but today the gold bead hares ear nymph was deadly.
