Busy teaching at Fly Only this morning on the casting pools, finished at lunch and went straight to Scout Dyke Reservoir to meet fellow Game Angling Instructor Simon Fish for an afternoons fishing. On arrival there was no sign of fish on the surface so I put an olive nymph on and by the third cast I was straight into a fish, soon followed by another, then things dried up for a while.

After changing tactics a couple of times we both switched to a pheasant tail nymph and we had a blast, well into double figures. All fish were between 2lb and 4lb. A great days fishing. Just a quick note, if I could only carry one nymph in my fly box it would be the pheasant tail nymph. It can be deadly and it was today.
