Just back from Cape Verde on a family holiday, but my Guideline RSI 9 ft 8 w, Vosso reel and some Simply Flies prototypes managed to get into the case. I fished a few mornings in horrendous winds and high waves to no avail, even casting a full line your fly could not be seen due to the sand being stirred up by the rough conditions. I packed my kit away and gave it up as a bad idea, until the last day of the holiday. I was walking down the beach and I suddenly spotted Bonito smashing into bait fish. My wife went back for my rod whilst I tracked the fish down the beach.I thought this window of opportunity would have passed by the time my rod arrived, but three hours later I was still casting through them as they smashed small bait fish. Nature, you never know what’s going to happen next. Lesson be leaned never pack your rod away until your ready to board your flight.
