Fishing on the River Derwent at the Chatsworth House beat Sept 2016

I can never turn down an invitation from Pete Lax to fish this beat so I was pleased to be back this month. This is my favourite trout river in the UK and the scenery is breath taking. Yet again the river did not disappoint.

I took approx twelve fish on the Dry Fly and nymph. Anybody interested in fishing this beat can contact Pete through his web site www.peterlaxflyfishing.co.uk for guiding rates etc.

The rod I used on the day was a GUIDELINE Fario Classic 10ft 3 weight.
This rod is a proper fishing tool, a fish only needs to breathe on your fly and you feel it when nymph fishing but it will also cast a dry fly with ease. The line I use is a GUIDELINE presentation WFF 3W which I find is a great combination. The flies I caught all my fish on were the Grifiths gnat high vis dry fly and a brown Czech nymph.
